Slept in and it was grand, then the afternoon got busy-like. It was time to break in new wafflestompers, warm up "Isabelle," and go have the "normal" life that comes around this time of year, a sort of gearing up for the rest of the year while at the same time taking the time to breathe and notice how others are faring in the newness. This time it seems that the next time might have to be a little longer. The Rebellion's infancy was short lived. Its churning adolescence is not such a bad place to be for folks accustomed to shrugging off the words of any that would attempt to talk you into being "reasonable." There is, after all, such a thing as defensive selfishness. Anyway, there's something kind of cool about already being someplace and knowing you can go to the show for only six bucks and still buy enough popcorn and soda to bring the whole tab in under ten bucks. Think I'll go do that right now.
I'm the author of a book of poems, Territory of Wind, a nonfiction book, Writing and the Spiritual Life and, most recently, a play, A Woman's Life in Pieces, which I've been performing in Monterey and Santa Cruz.
Patrice,
ReplyDeleteThank you for showing us the possibility nature holds
and for the reminder that these gifts await each of us -
all we need do is simply show up.
I'm so glad you showed up and brought back elegant
words and images to share with us.
Happy new year and happy new adventure!
Besos,
Roxane
